Sandra Szlapinski, PhD

Director of Preclinical Services & Senior Regulatory Toxicologist

Sandra is the Director of Preclinical Services and Senior Regulatory Toxicologist at KGK Science where she has been working since 2020. She works alongside in-house Research and Clinical teams together with clients in the preparation of applications to meet the regulatory requirements of Health Canada and the FDA for Natural Health Products (NHPs), foods, and dietary supplements.

Sandra has helped clients navigate the regulatory landscape for their nutraceutical products by helping sponsors to successfully achieve Product Licenses for their NHPs and Masterfiles in Canada, and self-affirmed GRAS conclusions and NDI notifications to the U.S. FDA. She also oversees preclinical proof-of-concept studies, in addition to toxicology studies that are being conducted in support of NDI notifications and GRAS dossiers.

Sandra earned her undergraduate degree in Biology (Honours Bachelor of Science) and Doctor of Philosophy in Physiology and Pharmacology (Specialization in Developmental Biology), both from the University of Western Ontario. She has co-authored several peer-reviewed journal articles, in addition to book chapters in the areas of physiology, pharmacology and toxicology.
