Healthy Adults Needed for THC & CBD Research
Researchers at KGK Science are looking for healthy adults with previous experience using CBD- and THC-containing products to participate in a clinical research study.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate how cannabinoids are processed by the body following administration of the study products.
Your Experience Could Support Cannabinoid Research
Why this Research Matters
This clinical research study is evaluating the pharmacokinetics of cannabinoids.
Pharmacokinetic (PK) research helps researchers understand how substances are absorbed, distributed, metabolized and eliminated by the body over time.
Participation is voluntary, and you may withdraw from the study at any time.
.
What is this Study about?
This clinical research study is investigating an investigational product and its effects on blood sugar responses in adults who are overweight and/or obese with elevated HbA1c.
Eligible participants will consume the study product or placebo and complete study-related assessments, including blood collection and questionnaires. Researchers will use these measurements to better understand the body’s response during the study.
Participation is voluntary, and completing the initial questionnaire does not mean you will qualify or be enrolled.
Who may Qualify?
You may qualify if you:
- Are between 21 and 55 years of age
- Are generally healthy
- Have a BMI between 18.5 and 30.0 kg/m²
- Have previous experience using CBD- and THC-containing products
- Typically use cannabinoid products no more than 3 times per week
- Are willing to refrain from cannabis and cannabinoid products for at least 4 weeks before screening and throughout the study
- Are willing and able to attend the required study visits and follow study-related restrictions
Additional eligibility requirements apply and will be reviewed by the study team.
Your Safety Comes First
This study is Health Canada-approved and reviewed by an independent ethics board. All participants are carefully monitored throughout the study.
Participants will be compensated $1500 for their time.
What's Involved?
Study participation includes:
- Complete a screening and re-assessment visit to confirm eligibility and overall health.
- Attend 2 full-day dosing visits, approximately 14 hours each, where you will receive two THC-CBD combination lozenges at one visit and a THC lozenge at the other.
- Provide blood samples throughout each dosing day so researchers can measure how THC and CBD are processed by your body.
- Return for two approximately 1-hour follow-up visits at 24 and 48 hours after each dosing visit for blood collection and other study assessments.
- Complete cognitive tests, questionnaires, and health assessments.
Participants will be asked to follow specific restrictions before and during study visits.
These may include restrictions related to cannabis/cannabinoids, alcohol, alcohol, hard drugs, egg or sperm donation, nicotine, certain foods, beverages, medications, and supplements.
All study procedures will be explained in detail during the informed consent process.
