Can Hydrolyzed Collagen help stabilize blood sugar?

We are examining the relationship between sugar metabolism and nutrition.

Are you looking to improve your blood sugar levels?

Researchers are conducting a clinical research study to better understand how nutrition may influence sugar-related measures in adults with normal blood sugar or prediabetes.

This 105-day study will examine a dietary supplement made from hydrolyzed collagen (a form of collagen that has been broken down to make it easier to absorb) under controlled research conditions. Eligible participants will receive up to $1,000 in compensation for time and participation.

Why this Research Matters

Maintaining healthy blood sugar levels is important for long-term metabolic health. While diet, lifestyle changes, and medications are commonly used, these approaches may not work the same way for everyone.

Hydrolyzed collagen is typically studied for skin and joint health, but recent scientific research suggests it may also play a role in how the body processes sugar after meals. Early clinical studies have reported differences in how blood sugar levels respond after a meal in adults who consumed hydrolyzed collagen compared to those who did not.

Because different types and sources of hydrolyzed collagen may be processed differently by the body, more research is needed to better understand these effects. This study aims to help expand scientific knowledge by examining a bovine-derived (from cows) hydrolyzed collagen in adults with normal blood sugar or prediabetes.

Why does this Research Matter?

By joining this study, you may help researchers discover whether natural health options can provide added benefits alongside approved treatments.

To be eligible, you must have prediabetes or Type 2 diabetes and be a candidate for semaglutide therapy under Ontario health standard care. You must also not have taken GLP-1 medications (such as Ozempic®, Wegovy®, Saxenda®, Victoza®, or Trulicity®) or any other medication to reduce blood sugar levels.
