Do you feel stressed a lot? Do you think it is affecting your performance?
Help us understand how L-Theanine Affects Cognitive Performance Under Stress

Cognitive performance involves brain functions such as attention, memory, and learning. Several factors that affect cognitive performance include sleep, nutrition and stress. Healthy lifestyle habits are needed to maintain these functions. While some stress may positively affect cognitive function, too much stress may have a negative effect. In 2022, an average of 22% of Canadian adults reported “most days are quite a bit or extremely stressful” while 33% of Americans reported they were too stressed to think about the future in 2023.
Stress management strategies involve increasing healthy habits such as exercising, quitting tobacco or nicotine, such as exercising, quitting tobacco or nicotine, practicing deep breathing, and mindfulness meditation, which can help to reduce stress. However, for these strategies to be effective, they require consistency and dedication, which can be difficult to maintain. Practicing deep breathing and doing mindfulness meditation, practicing deep breathing, and doing mindfulness meditation, can help to reduce stress. However, for these strategies to be effective they require consistency and dedication, which can be difficult to maintain. This is why exploring safe and effective alternatives is important.
Researchers are exploring whether a naturally occurring compound called L-theanine, found in green tea leaves, can help support brain function during stressful situations. Health Canada considers up to 250 mg of L-theanine safe to consume, with no reported side effects.
We are studying the effects of Alpha Wave® (containing L-Theanine) on moderate stress and cognitive performance in a randomized, triple-blind placebo-controlled crossover clinical trial.
